Homer Babbidge Library Food and Beverage Policy

It is the policy of the University Libraries to maintain an environment appropriate for the protection of library materials and conducive to study. Food and beverages attract rodents, cockroaches, silverfish and other unwanted pests that damage library materials. By complying with the policy, users and staff will help maintain a clean work environment, pest-free buildings, and aid in the preservation of our collections for future generations, while enjoying some food and drink in the library.

Do not bring food or drinks into areas posted "No Food or Drink" regardless of the type of container you have.

NO Beverages or Foods are permitted at or near:

It is the individual's responsibility to throw away wrappers, containers, and other trash in the appropriate trash receptacles. We encourage those who have major spills to report these to library staff immediately so we can arrange for the appropriate clean-up. Other University Libraries may establish food and drink policies appropriate to their facilities, resources and clientele. Check posted policies to ensure compliance.

We appreciate your cooperation in protecting the library environment.
